Living in the House: Hayden Hansel PC'23

" I can’t imagine spending these special years calling anywhere else, but 808 Hilgard my home!"

Hi everyone! 

My name is Hayden and I am a rising Junior in ADPi! Some of my best college memories have come from living in the ADPi house, otherwise known as the HOP, and I am beyond excited to do it all again this fall! 

If someone were to ask me what I’d hope to see if I came back to the HOP 10 years from now, I’d say I’d hope to walk up the stairs, through the swinging door to southwing bathroom and find 20 girls curling each other's hair, some debriefing their days on the ottoman, music blaring, making a mess of the closet space while deciding who’s top they’re going to wear for the night, laughing about the memories they’ve made, and planning the ones to come. While this may seem like a lot to expect, it’s been what I’ve come to know as an ADPi living in the HOP. The ADPi house is home to late night TV room karaoke sessions, post Friday brunch tanning on the sun porch, balcony cheering during a pinning, and barefoot girls covered in mud running home from trash bagging on Tongva. It’s home to Friendsgivings, and Easter dinner parties, assembly line toast making after raids, and intense games of the floor is lava! It's the perfect distance for our spontaneous trips to Erewhon for softserve, and the best setting for our digi pic photoshoots before every event. 

Living in the house means if you don’t have plans this Saturday night, you do now. It means if you don’t have the right dress to wear to the crush date party, you’ll wear your sisters. It means if you need a laugh you’ve come to the right place, and it means every corner of the house has a memory you’ll always cherish. Living in the HOP has brought me closer to the girls that I feel so blessed to know, and has made my college experience one that will live up to the traditionally defined, best four years of your life. I can’t imagine spending these special years calling anywhere else, but 808 Hilgard my home!
