"When it came to the day that all the sororities discussed their philanthropy, it was as if my world came full circle at ADPi when they told me about theirs, Ronald McDonald House Charities."

Hey!
My name is Bianca Gonzales, and I am a third-year political science major! UCLA had always been my dream school, and coming from a small town, I highly anticipated a change in pace. I hadn’t considered going through recruitment until my older sister convinced me to try it two weeks before the sign-up form closed. I heard of all the advantages, such as alum connections, job opportunities, etc. Still, I would have never guessed that I would become so involved within the sorority and that the people within it would be my most solid support system.
I had the opportunity to formally go through recruitment in the fall of 2021. I can admit that recruitment can be overwhelming, but when I visited ADPi, I found myself making connections every time I had a conversation there. When it came to the day that all the sororities discussed their philanthropy, it was as if my world came full circle at ADPi when they told me about theirs, Ronald McDonald House Charities. When I was seven years old, my life was at risk, and I had major surgery on my spinal cord. In my intense recovery, RMHC housed my parents in one of the scariest moments of their lives. In a time where there was much unknown, RMHC was able to provide comfort. Through care packages, handwritten notes, and even making meals ourselves at RMHC for families, I can now give back to these families how RMHC gave to mine.
When I joined ADPi, I was nervous about getting more involved in the chapter as it was a completely new experience for me, and I did not know anyone or have any family in Greek life. After my first year of recruiting from the other side, it sparked my interest in becoming more involved and strengthened my commitment to it. At the beginning of my second year, I decided to try for the spot of Vice President of Event Management. Ever since becoming VPEM, I have gotten a newfound appreciation for all the work behind the scenes and have become more connected with the people within our chapter. I am also so thankful to plan and create these social events where our members are able to create core memories to look back on after they graduate.
This summer, I have started planning for our fall events (SO EXCITED), taking online classes, and studying for my real estate license exam! I’ve had the chance to visit some friends at the HOP and will return to go to the Drake concert with some ADPis later in August!! I have been counting down the days till I can move back into the HOP, see all of my favorite people, and also welcome the new class of 2023!
