Why Adpi: Madenn Le Sommier PC'21

"I wish every girl going through recruitment the best of luck and encourage you to go ADPi! I have found a home-away-from home through my sorority that I absolutely treasure, and I am surrounded by a community of uplifting and empowering women."

Hello!!

My name is Madenn Le Sommier and I am a rising fourth-year student majoring in Political Science and minoring in Conservation Biology. I was born in Paris, France, but moved to the United States when I was three and have spent a majority of my life in New York City and Los Angeles! I originally attended CSULB my freshman year, but transferred to Santa Monica College my sophomore year with the hopes of transferring to UCLA.

As a transfer student, my time at UCLA has been a bit different compared to the average four-year student. I only have two years to experience all that UCLA has to offer, and after my first quarter, I just felt like something was missing. Although I love my transfer community and the transfer building I lived in, I still wanted to experience UCLA through the eyes of a different community. My roommate, Destiny, motivated me to go through COR the following quarter, and when I heard about her time as a member of ADPi, I decided to give it a shot.

I remember talking to Mahima and Caroline during my first coffee date and being surprised with how laid-back and comfortable our conversation was. I didn’t feel like I needed to be anyone but myself, and I’ve continued to feel like that anytime I’ve talked to another ADPi since that first conversation. I was super excited to join ADPi that quarter, and getting to know my Alpha class and going through our Alpha sessions together were some of the highlights of that quarter.

Spring quarter was filled with more exciting moments with ADPi, including becoming the DAA for our chapter, attending my first Lions Cup and Diamond Ball, being a part of the ADPi Book Club, and picking up my littles, Laila and Sofia! I’m so excited to be going back to school in a few weeks and to be moving into the HOP for my last year at UCLA.

I wish every girl going through recruitment the best of luck and encourage you to go ADPi! I have found a home-away-from home through my sorority that I absolutely treasure, and I am surrounded by a community of uplifting and empowering women. I know it may be a stressful process, but take it day by day and learn to enjoy meeting some fellow Bruins. We can’t wait to meet you!
