Recruitment Tips: Ella Powers PC'22

"At the end of it all, I chose ADPi because I felt like I could just be myself (I know it's cliché). I just truly felt at home with ADPi."

Hey!

My name is Ella and I did fall recruitment last year! I didn’t really know much about the UCLA Panhellenic community or the recruitment process going in. It wasn’t until orientation day at the beginning of recruitment when I realized what the process truly was. For anyone going through recruitment this year, I would recommend a tote bag with a water bottle, some snacks, and if you’re wearing heels, definitely a comfy pair of shoes to change into between houses! I wish I would’ve brought a comfy pair of shoes to change into for the walk home as I vividly remember myself and many others walking back to the dorms barefoot or in socks because of blisters. Overall, I had a great recruitment experience. My Rho Gamma and my fellow PNMS were all so sweet. I still say hi when I see them around various Greek Life events. At the end of it all, I chose ADPi because I felt like I could just be myself (I know it's cliché). I just truly felt at home with ADPi. I enjoyed talking about the things I had in common, but I also appreciated the diversity of interests in the girls I didn't have a lot in common with. No matter what, I was always able to connect with the girls I talked to and left every time feeling genuinely excited about the chapter. I couldn’t be happier with where I ended up and hope anyone reading this has a great experience like I did.

It's very hard to pick only a few of my favorite ADPI memories. Some of the top ones would definitely be our kayaking and Disneyland sisterhood. I really enjoyed getting to hangout with my fellow ADPis while doing something fun. I feel like our sisterhood events are what really make us…well us. I also really loved our Last Bash. It was a great way to say goodbye for the summer and destress before finals. I will forever cherish the friendships I have made in the chapter and always appreciate the variety of events and activities we do together.
